2 Dimes?
Sister, Can You Spare 2 Dimes?
Table of Contents
In addition to my health troubles (see my previous post), I recently received my employee review. I received an excellent review and my manager informed me that I received a raise.
Twenty cents an hour.
That’s right — two dimes extra an hour. It’s hard to know whether to laugh or cry, it’s so insulting. So when the taxes are taken out . . .
Meanwhile, rumors are that the CEO of my company has a personal make-up artist on call that the company pays for, in addition to his multi-million dollar salary, stock options, etc.
My manager told me to be happy, however. Some of my co-workers received no raise at all.
Unhealthy Work Environment
Now, I know that some of you are unemployed, and you think that I should be happy to be employed at all.
But if you knew what my salary was for a very difficult job, you’d cry.
The work environment is so relentlessly negative that sometimes I wonder if it’s worth it. I know the job has contributed to my health woes.
Something has to be done.
I’m going to have to proactive about this situation, too, just as I’m being about my health.

Oh man, I am so sorry. That's like a slap in the face! I've worked for a soul-sucking place that -def- contributed to mental and physical health issues. when I got out after two years, it felt like I was pulling myself out of a black hole.
I hope you can find some way to make your current situation bearable, I know how hard that can truly be. <3

I hope that you can soon find a new job where they appreciate you a bit more than $0.20…… good luck!

@Meanbean — the only way of making my current situation bearable is to quit, but right now I need the insurance to cover my medical bills. I am plotting and planning a way to quit in a few months, though. I want to freelance and be my own boss! Thanks for visiting!
New Jersey Memories
@Rachel — I want to be my own boss, because that's the only way I know that I'll be appreciated. I'm working on that situation right now. I'm so glad you visited!

I really would prefer NO RAISE AT ALL! what the heck!? that is a total slap in the face! That happened to the BF a year or so ago and he was really insulted. Hopefully your company gets their act together and gives you what you deserve! =D
Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!

Hey neighbor, I'm a NJ native too and I love our home state!
I really feel for your work situation. That is very upsetting. It's not all wine and roses at my place either. If you want to compare war stories, check out my latest post High School 2.o at http://www.lifeofsaucyb.com
Do hang in there and hunt those job postings! I know i am. 😉
P.S. Happy SITS Sharefest!
New Jersey Memories
@ Nicole — I wish my company would learn but they are clueless. Everyone in my workplace is furious that their hard work isn't appreciated (some people got nothing). Thanks for stopping by!

Over from SITS..
Well, that sucks. I mean, seriously. Twenty cents? I hope you're your own boss soon – and that then you can give yourself the raise you deserve! 😉
p.s. I was born in Jersey!
Angelia Sims
I think it's the boss that makes the whole thing a joke. I mean if he can afford a make-up artist??
I read the RX post too. It's really great you are going to the doctor. I hope they find answers. Mostly I hope it's just stress and nothing serious. That's a lot of history.
I was at a stressful job and kept getting sick. I've been at the new job (for less money) about 3 weeks. I'm not sick but have almost 3 hours overtime.
I really don't want to work overtime. I think working for yourself is a GREAT idea. I'm glad you have a plan in place.
Anna
Hang in there! I hope that people will be able to see how hard of worker you are through these tough times. Good luck!
Brodie
Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday for my SITS day- hope you are feeling better and the dr. can find out whats wrong
New Jersey Memories
@ Cheryl — thanks for visiting from SITS. Yes, I definitely want to be my own boss soon. I really love writing and blogging, and I want to make a career out of it. Glad to hear from another New Jerseyan!
@Angelia — the company pays for his personal make-up artist, in addition to the corporate jet, the limousines, the free wardrobe, and all of his other perks. He was seen recently dancing the night away in Palm Beach, without a care in the world. He makes about $15 million a year in all. Meanwhile, many employees are being downsized.
@Anna– unfortunately my employer does not appreciate hard work. They only care who makes them the most money.
@Brodie– still waiting for the results from the blood tests.
Thanks all for visiting, following, and commenting!
