Van Vleck House and Gardens

These lovely gardens in Montclair, New Jersey began as a 12-acre private estate in 1868.

In 1992 the family heirs gave the house and the gardens to the non-profit Montclair Foundation

The private gardens are free and open to the public from dawn to dusk 365 days a year.

There are classes, concerts, and special events that take place throughout the year.

The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, and the estate is especially famous for the wisteria blooming around the house.

The gardens and the house are open to non-profits.

The website states:

The Montclair Foundation was established to support not-for-profit organizations that meet health, educational, cultural, social service and quality of life needs in the greater Montclair community. It offers concerned citizens a way to assure the continuing vitality of Montclair and serves as a permanent conduit for charitable giving.
